Persian Kitchen Staff
The Chef was born in Iran and currently lives in Los Angeles. The Chef has always enjoyed cooking and she first practiced her cooking skills in her grandmother’s kitchen, who was indeed her inspiration.
For many years she enjoyed eating Persian food made by the experts around her refusing to endure the task herself as she thought it was too intimidating of a venture.
One fine day she decided that it was time to tackle the beast by the head. Much to the disgrace of every Persian she first had to learn how to make Persian rice. It took a few disastrous attempts, which included loud cussing and pans flying across the kitchen, resulting in a very sorry, mushy, and pathetic looking rice . She has now mastered rice making and has risen above defeat!
The Chef soon realized that while at times time consuming, she really enjoyed making dishes from her home country and sharing the results with family and friends.
One fine day The Sous Chef walked into her life. He had never had any exposure to Persians or Persian food before. The Chef thought to herself: “Oh you poor lamb, I will show you. I will enlighten you!” The Chef then made sure to introduce him to her culture and cuisine.
The Sous Chef
The Sous Chef was born and raised in Los Angeles. He loves to cook and eat good food. The Sous Chef has mad knife skills and can fine chop like you wouldn’t believe! He also has a sharp nose and strong taste buds to decipher spices and ingredients.
The Sous Chef serves many purposes in the kitchen, not only is he The Chef’s biggest cheerleader, but he also helps out in every aspect of food preparation, photography, and will occasionally do dishes, much to The Chef’s delight.
The Sous Chef thoroughly enjoys Persian food and has learned to make a few dishes on his own. In fact he has become so good that when frequenting Persian restaurants he can detect good and not so good Persian cuisine. When ordering authentic Persian dishes, which are not always liked by westerners, he is occasionally given a worried look by the waiter…little do they know!
The Chef and Sous Chef are currently happily married.
Four Legged Kitchen Vacuum
The Four Legged Kitchen Vacuum, aka The Dog, is an American Staffordshire Terrier mixed with Labrador. While at first the impression was that she enjoyed hanging out with her human parents in the kitchen, it was soon discovered that she walked around with her eyes and nose attached to the floor hoping to miraculously find food fallen on the floor during cooking sessions. She at times gets lucky, while other times she is shown the door… only to come back and try her luck once again a few minutes later.
It is not currently known if The Dog enjoys Persian food, but a random guess would be yes!
The Gastronomy & Culture Consultant
The Gastronomy and Culture Consultant is The Chef’s mother, aka Maman, who was born in Iran and currently lives in Rome, Italy. She also enjoys cooking very much, although, she is not a daring cook like her daughter; she much prefers to stick to traditional cooking and follows recipes verbatim. At first she was horrified by The Chef’s culinary experiments as they happened in the kitchen until she tasted the final product realizing that her daughter knows what she is doing –most of the time.
